Mr. Walter Cronkite passed away.

During my high school and university days-in middle and late 60s-, the United States of America had a brilliant anchorman. Though he was already a big name in America, I knew his name in 1963. On a late-fall day in Toyama, one of my best friends Yokoi shouted, “Kennedy was dead by an assassin’s bullet.” On just the same day-Friday, November 22, 1963 or the next day, I also knew that Mr. Cronkite delivered the tragedy with his tears on TV news.
Mr. Walter Leland Cronkite, Jr. was born on November 4, 1916(one year before birth of JFK). On the CBS news he spoke at a rate of 124 words per minutes, it’s very clear and easy-understanding speed. He reported and commented about JFK, Apollo, the Vietnam War, Watergate, President Election and so on. He was selected as “the most trusted man in America" many times. His influences got more and deeper than President. Through his activities, he got some awards and honors. They are, for instance, “for enduring contributions to journalism”, “Freedom of the Press”, “the Presidential Medal of Freedom", “NASA’s Ambassador of Exploration Award”.

From now on Mr. Cronkite ends his Evening News saying “And that’s the way it is.” on the Heaven. White or black, young or old, left or right, female or male, minority or majority, American or non-American, believers or non-believers listen to his opinions there.
Thank you very much, Mr. Cronkite. You are the greatest journalist ever and forever.
How and where can we find out a Cronkite in today of Japan?
